League Two outfit Fleetwood Town have been drawn at home against Premier League champions Arsenal in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, securing one of the most high-profile fixtures in the club’s history.
Fleetwood made history by advancing to the last 16 of the competition for the very first time following a 1-0 victory over Championship side Sheffield United. Their reward is a Highbury Stadium clash against Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, who punched their ticket to the fourth round with a 4-2 win over Ipswich Town.
Elsewhere in the draw, several all-Premier League blockbusters were confirmed. Highlighting the lineup is Liverpool hosting Chelsea at Anfield, a fixture that marks a return to his former club for Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso. Holders Manchester City will welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Etihad Stadium if they clear their remaining third-round hurdle against Norwich City.
The remaining ties guarantee lower-league representation further into the tournament, with League One sides Bradford City and Peterborough United set to clash for a place in the quarter-finals.
