The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State, Senator Kabir Marafa, has pledged to tackle and eliminate the security challenges plaguing the state within two years if elected governor in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interactive session with members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at his residence in Gusau on Wednesday, Marafa declared that he would voluntarily resign from office if his administration fails to end insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping within the stipulated time frame.

The former federal lawmaker stated that his extensive public service experience as both a state commissioner and a two-term senator has provided him with a deep understanding of Zamfara’s security and developmental issues.

“I served as a commissioner for many years in this state. I also served as a senator for many years. I know the problems of this state and how to solve them. If I am elected governor in the forthcoming general elections, give me a period of two years, and I will end insecurity in this state. If I cannot bring an end to insecurity, insurgency, kidnapping and other criminalities in Zamfara State within the period of two years, I will voluntarily resign,” Marafa said.

Marafa urged the electorate across Zamfara to rally behind the NDC ahead of the 2027 polls, assuring residents that his lead ticket remains committed to restoring lasting peace, economic stability, and progress across the state.
