Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, on Monday, departed Italy for Turkey to complete his loan switch from Napoli to Galatasaray.
The striker has been embroiled in arguably the most-drawn-out transfer saga of the 2024 transfer period, but all that is about to be put to rest.

Confirming Osimhen’s trip, football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, wrote via his X account that the player is on a private jet to complete the loan move.

“Victor Osimhen’s private flight, on its way to Istanbul right now,” Romano wrote on Monday evening.

Earlier, Naija News had reported that Italian Serie A club Napoli, approved Victor Osimhen’s season-long loan after a very turbulent last three weeks between the two parties.

Recall that Osimhen submitted a transfer request to Napoli ahead of this summer. Osimhen had the assurance that one of the big clubs in Europe would come for him even though the contract he signed with Napoli in December came with a €130 million release clause.

As he expected, big clubs like Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, and Arsenal came for his signature, but they were unwilling to pay Napoli’s asking price and Osimhen’s wages.

Chelsea and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli pressed on for Osimhen’s signature until the last day of the 2024 summer transfer window on August 30. However, the two clubs failed to agree on the monetary aspect of the deal.

Afterwards, Napoli kicked Victor Osimhen out of the squad and reportedly relegated him to the under-23 squad. This means that if the 25-year-old striker doesn’t leave the side this summer, he might not play professional club football again until probably in the January transfer window if he can secure another club.

As it stands, the 25-year-old Nigeria international can now continue playing football but away from Napoli, the side he has a contract with till June 30, 2026.
