Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has officially opened his scoring account for Besiktas, helping the Turkish giants secure a vital 2-0 win over Konyaspor in their Super Lig clash on Wednesday night at the Konya Buyuksehir Belediye Stadium.

The Nigerian international, who was recently named the club’s vice-captain, delivered a commanding performance in midfield, partnering effectively with captain Orkun Kökcü. This new leadership duo immediately paid dividends in the 32nd minute when Kökcü expertly teed up Ndidi, who calmly guided the ball into the net for his maiden goal since joining the club.

Besiktas Show Resilience
Despite Ndidi’s opener, Konyaspor rallied and saw more of the ball, but the Besiktas defence remained highly organised and disciplined, successfully holding onto their slim lead through halftime.

The visitors’ resilience paid off midway through the second half when Tammy Abraham capitalised on a costly mistake by goalkeeper Derniz Ertas. The striker dispossessed the keeper before slotting into an empty goal to seal the 2-0 victory. Abraham later thought he had added a second, but VAR ruled the effort out for offside.

Table Movement and Momentum
The victory serves as the perfect response for Coach Sergen Yalcin, whose team had faced pressure following a 2-1 home loss to Genclerbirligi the previous weekend. The win ends a two-game winless run and underscores the team’s growing confidence on the road, with seven points taken from their last three away fixtures.

The result lifts Besiktas to sixth place in the Super Lig table with 16 points, while Konyaspor drops to ninth on 11 points.

Besiktas will look to build on their momentum when they host Kasimpasa on Sunday, while Konyaspor will aim to regroup for their trip to Genclerbirligi.
