Ogwuaga-Abba, Nwangele LGA, Imo State, hosted a landmark cultural event with the celebration of the first Ofala ever held in Imo State, marking the reign of HH Igwe Duru Oshimiri Ataa-ata III, Obinna Akwiwu Dim Ohamadike II, Eze Ogwuaga-Abba.
The Ofala brought together royal fathers from across the Eastern region alongside senior political leaders. In attendance was the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Dr. Hope O. Uzodimma, CON accompanied by Her Excellency, Bar. Mrs. Chioma Deborah Uzodimma, and an entourage of government officials. Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, was also present accompanied by other members of the house, adding to the significance of the gathering.

The celebration featured vibrant masquerade performances, cultural dance troupes, regal pom poms, and traditional music. The atmosphere reflected pride, unity, and continuity, with culture expressed through movement, rhythm, and shared presence.

HH Igwe Duru Oshimiri Ataa-ata III, Obinna Akwiwu, Eze Ogwuaga-Abba, a son of the soil, was celebrated for leadership marked by calm strength and closeness to the people. The Ofala reflected kingship lived among the community, with moments of connection, respect, and collective pride throughout the event.

The first Ofala in Imo State stands as a defining moment for cultural preservation and traditional leadership within the region, positioning Ogwuaga-Abba as a growing centre for cultural heritage.
