Two weeks after its release, Tobi Tokz’s debut gospel single, “I Surrender,” is doing more than streaming—it’s healing.
The vulnerable track, born out of personal grief, depression, and a spiritual rebirth following the loss of Tokz’s only brother, has crossed thousands of streams on Spotify, Boomplay, and Audiomack, and is now gaining traction on TikTok, with users sharing stories of faith, anxiety recovery, and divine restoration using the sound.

“It was never about going viral,” Tokz says. “This was the first time I stopped chasing hits and started chasing healing. ‘I Surrender’ is not just a song, it’s how I survived.”
After years of success in secular music, Tobi Tokz stepped away from the spotlight, plagued by anxiety, identity confusion, and spiritual burnout. What began as a private journal entry turned into a soul-stirring anthem now connecting deeply with youth navigating faith and mental health across Africa and beyond.
As his audience grows, so does the message: purpose over platform, surrender over ego.
