French football club Marseille have completed the signing of Neal Maupay from Everton on a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy in 2025.

Neal Maupay, 28, who joined Everton in 2022 from Brighton, had a challenging stint with the Toffees, scoring only once in 32 appearances

Before his move to the French Ligue 1 side, Maupay spent the previous season on loan at his former club Brentford, where he found the net eight times in 31 Premier League games.

Maupay’s transfer was influenced by the fact that he was entering the final year of his contract at Goodison Park and had not been included in Everton’s squad for the team’s first two Premier League matches of the new season.

The French forward’s move to Marseille sees him reunite with his former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi in his home country, France.

In addition to Maupay, Marseille has also secured the services of Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during this summer’s transfer window.

On the other hand, Everton have been active in the transfer market, securing the signings of Jake O’Brien, Iliman Ndiaye, and Tim Iroegbunam.

Furthermore, Everton are reportedly working on finalizing a loan deal for Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala, 26, before the transfer window closes.
