Rasmus Hojlund has officially joined Napoli, arriving from Manchester United on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. The 22-year-old Danish forward’s move includes a €6 million loan fee for the current season, with a subsequent automatic buyout for an additional €44 million, contingent on Napoli securing Champions League qualification at the end of the season.

The transfer marks a return to Italy for Hojlund, who previously played for Atalanta. He is poised for a significant role at his new club, where he will have the opportunity to become a key player, especially in light of Romelu Lukaku’s long-term injury and the sole presence of Lorenzo Lucca as a forward.

During his two seasons with Manchester United, Hojlund made 95 appearances and scored 26 goals. His performance was particularly notable in his first year, when he netted 16 goals in 43 games. However, his second season saw a drop in form, with just 10 goals in 52 games as the team finished 15th in the Premier League. As part of his new contract, Napoli has also included an €80 million sale clause, signalling their long-term belief in his potential. On transfer Deadline Day, Napoli also announced the return of Eljif Elmas.
